Wings - Live 09:49
And then, suddenly, from a silent tickle between his shoulders, two white gracious wings arose. He unwrapped them, wondering where they came from. His wings started lifting him up from the ground – full of grace. He felt the wind swirling around his face. His wings lifted him up – higher and higher. They carried him away. Far away from the ground. Far away from the trees. Far away from the houses. Far away from the streets, the cars – people. Far away from this dull, unfair thing he used to call life. His wings took him way up – they passed besides some birds. His wings made him dive into the clouds – he felt somewhat dizzy by passing through them – and then, as quickly as they arrived, he and his wings broke through their surface. Curly curves of pure woolen clouds underneath him. He felt like he could possibly step on them – carefully – and maybe take a walk. But his wings still took him higher and higher. Far away from the beauty of the clouds. Then he reached a point, where he felt like getting a bigger image: Single clouds melting into massifs of cloudbanks, passing by the continents, forming one single image of pure beauty and natural unity. Everything seemed so small to him – in total, one big uninfluencable state of flux. All becoming and all passing away. That must have been the feeling astronauts report about after having seen the earth from out there – coming back and feeling the tiny meaninglessness of human fights and struggles. How would he possibly feel after coming back? Right now, he felt somewhat enlightened. The moon appeared to be a lot closer and the sky above was so black and full of stars. His wings still took him higher and higher – not too far and he must have reached the outer ionosphere – or stratosphere? He was not sure about the words. But they were just unnecessary semantics in the eye of the incredible size of the moon right in front of him. Then it got harder to focus his sight on the moon. His mind on the moon. He lacked oxygen. A few more majestic flaps of his wings and he fainted, smothered away and died. And here is the last thing he thought: “Goddamn, those fucking wings!”

about

IT'S A FOGGY NIGHT - LIVE AT STILLE KAMMER NO.7, BERLIN

It was in October 2019 when we took a ride through a misty afternoon to go to berlin. Rowan Coupland and Ben Osborn host a series of shows called STILLE KAMMER in Berlin at Donau 115. And it was still that night - I played a set of original music to a small and very attentive audience to fly to Jupiter together and back. I am really glad I recorded this show, because this is how my solo music is meant to be listened to: raw, live, not very produced - there's nothing but the moment the sound is made.
I hope you enjoy this little live album as much as I do! May it make your days at home a bit shorter,
All my love,
M.
